TIDBITS FOR A WOMAN

I met a young woman a few years ago.  She was physically handicapped but her knowledge of spiritual things was quite keen.

She spoke of some of her acquaintances who had not yet come to real faith in Christ.  She referred to them as "default" Christians.  Her words piqued my curiosity and I really listened!!

My new friend said that she believed many people walk through life assuming that if their scale of "good and bad" deeds weighs in for the "good" then when life is over for them, they will most naturally go to heaven.  It is an "automatic" for them.

Why has that "idea" become so popular?  I  know that many believe that very thing.  Has that notion become popular because we want SO MUCH to believe that we can walk through life, be good and God will CERTAINLY accept us.  After all, He has to - - - - - doesn't He?

A default setting is that which a computer/machine reverts to automatically.  Nothing has to be done to get to that place.  It happens naturally.

That is exactly what my friend was saying.  How sad to live life HOPING that you will automatically go to heaven - - - - - because you THINK that is what should happen.  Or as some may say, "put it in neutral and hope for the best".

John 14:6 says,

Jesus said, "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life.

No one comes to the Father but by me".

And in John 1:12

"For as many as received Him, He gave power to

                                   become the Sons of God".

Entering into a relationship with Almighty God requires action on our part.  This is not a passive "hope so"  faith.  It is a realization that we are unable to save ourselves, acknowledging our sinfulness, and asking Christ to be our Savior.  Our lives should then be lived in daily service for Christ.

If you or someone you know is living in a "default setting", let's pray and act so that the Light of Jesus Christ will be revealed to them.
