Illusions
Illusion----a mistaken belief that does not match reality. A magician uses illusion in many ways. We marvel at their ability to pass a sword through a box or bring a rabbit out of a hat. The world and/or society also use illusion. One type of illusion is “gas lighting”. Gas lighting is a term used to explain how society attempts to question our interpretation of reality. We may know that what we believe or saw was true but society tells us that what we saw was not the truth. We would do well to remember that truth is truth whether we or others choose to believe it or not. “If you abide in My Word, then you are truly disciples of mine, and you will know the truth and the truth shall make you free.” John 8:31-32 Here are some key thoughts regarding truth and illusion.
1. “ABIDE in My Word”….We must stick with, stay with and cling to God’s Word and be diligent to read it faithfully.2. “The truth will make you FREE”….This freedom is spiritual liberation from sin and deception. We do not have to believe the lies of this world. His truth is power and light and life.3. “IF you abide in my word”….The outcome depends on us!!! IF we abide….. His Word will not fail, but will we??
We do not have to give in to the thoughts and ways of the world. If we are following Christ Jesus, we have His Word which gives us the tools to be able to see the counterfeits and avoid the pitfalls. It is up to each of us to wear His armor and fight the right battles.
